about

I wrote Lilleshall Hill after discovering the field recordings captured by Bella Bartok in 1912 in Bulgaria and Romania, and the fantastic Muzsikás who have continued the tradition. I was hooked on the twisting melodies, so lively, leaping through unexpected turns. The percussion break is a mix of east European folk with Brazilian street band, gamelan and a medieval party. It features Vince Vella playing a Brazilian style pandeiro, me on a Balanise cheng cheng and a medieval type of drum called a tabor, as well as some extended technique sax noises from Sam Sharp.

about

Oscilliard London, UK

Oscilliard make dance music, or more accurately, music made for dancing. Strata draws upon a global, kaleidoscopic range of dance for inspiration; from Balinese to American Lindy Hop, from medieval steps to cutting loose at a warehouse party, from the height of disco to arabesques at the ballet. The project is led by bassist and composer Justin Foster. ... more
